| Miha Škerlavaj was born on 21.11.1977. After the primary school Dragotin Kette in Ilirska Bistrica and high school in Postojna he enrolled into the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana (Banking & finance). In all four years of the undergraduate studies he received award for extraordinary study achievements. During the studies he also took part in practical activities in the fields of banking and marketing. In 2001 he received the Faculty Prešeren Award for his undergraduate thesis “e-Economy: Comparison of EU and USA”. The same year he took the job of Assistant at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana under the mentorship of prof.dr. Vlado Dimovski and also enrolled into the postgraduate study of Business informatics. In 2003 he took part in the Socrates Erasmus exchange program at Nottingham University Business School and completed his M.Sc. studies with master thesis “The impact of information-communication technologies and organizational learning on organizational performance: Theoretical and empirical analysis”. In April 2007 he defended the PhD dissertation entitled "The network perspective and performance of organizational learning: Theoretical and empirical analysis" and in March 2008 he became Assistant Professor for Management and Organization.
During the period of 2001-2008 as a member of Department for management and organization, he collaborated at organizing and implementing the following courses: Management, Understanding the organizational design and decision-making process, Organization of the enterprise, Organizing and decision-making, and Business research methods. Regularly he takes part in the andragogical, pedagogical, rhetorical and computer training. His research interests involve fields of organizational learning, learning organization, knowledge management and innovations, strategic aspects of ICT and similar subjects. He is also a member of international scientific associations Academy of Management, INSNA, EURAM, EGOS and Informing Science. His professional activities incorporate collaboration with the Centre for management development and training (Optimization of labor costs through business process reengineering and Knowledge management and innovations). He was also a member of several projects with users from the industry (e.g. Optimization of business processes and rewarding in Slovenian insurance company (2003-2004) and Analysis of strategic and cultural fit – Case of Slovenian company and its’ subsidiary in Russian Federation (2005-2006)). So far he has published nine SSCI and SCI ranked scientific papers (among many others). The paper Organizational learning culture-the missing link between business process change and organizational performance has been even ranked 2nd at the list of top25 most downolded papers in the International journal of production economics for the period January - March 2007. |
