Tomislav Hernaus was born on 20 May 1980 in Zagreb, Croatia. After the primary school Bartol Kasic and high school V. gymnasium in Zagreb he enrolled into the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb (Organization and Management). At the Faculty he graduated in 2004 with topic Interpersonal relations at work. During his undergraduate studies, he also finished CELI Transformative Leadership Program from George Washington University, as well as Danubia Erste Bank Summer School (Human Resource Management course), while in the same time conducting several part-time jobs.

In June 2004 he took the job of Teaching and Research Assistant at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Zagreb at the Department of Organization and Management under the mentorship of professor Pere Sikavica. Few months later he enrolled into the postgraduate study of Organization and Management at the same faculty where since January 2005 he is obtaining a position of the academic secretary. In 2005 he received Professional Diploma in Retail Management by Leeds Metropolitan University.

During his graduate studies, he took a part on several professional seminars related with organization design and business process management and received Certificate in Organization Design by Center of Effective Organizations, Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California (November 2006) and Certified Process Manager – Practitioner certificate by BPM Group (February 2007). Those two areas are in the main focus of his research and interest, besides organization theory, organization development and organizational change. In 2006 he completed his M.Sc. studies as first in the generation with master thesis “Transformation of Classical Organization toward Process-based Organization”. Accordingly, he developed Business Process Management course at his Department, where he is teaching several courses at the undergraduate level (Organization, Organization Design, Business Process Management) and at the graduate level (Business Process Management). In 2007, he enrolled in visiting doctoral student program of Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, Los Angeles with intention to conduct research for his doctoral dissertation.

He is an author and co-author of several scientific articles and he presented his papers on several international conferences. He is also and co-author of the forthcoming textbook “Business Process Management: Organizational and IT aspects” in collaboration with Full Professor Vesna Bosilj-Vuksic (Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb) and Full Professor Andrej Kovačič (Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana). Besides his scientific background, he intensively works on projects with Croatian companies like HEP (Organizational restructuring and management of the HEP Group), Hrvatska lutrija (Job Analysis and Workplace Systematization in Hrvatska lutrija) and others. Finally, it should be mentioned that he is a member of several international scientific and professional associations like Academy of Management, Organization Design Forum and BPM Group.
